Why Can Two Dental Insurance Plans Pay Different Amounts?

Two patients can receive similar dental treatment but have very different insurance benefits.

Dental insurance plans are individual contracts with different rules. Plans can vary in deductibles, annual maximums, covered percentages, network arrangements, exclusions, limitations, and allowable fees.

Even when two plans advertise similar percentages, the actual benefit can differ based on the plan’s fee schedule and other provisions.

This is why knowing only the name of an insurance company is not enough to determine your exact out-of-pocket cost.

Before treatment, review your plan documents or contact your insurance carrier. Ask about the specific procedure and whether the dentist is considered in-network or out-of-network under your plan.

Brookdale can prepare necessary insurance forms, but patients remain responsible for understanding their individual benefits and any balance not covered.
